Thanda Safari recently announced a new addition of a young cheetah to their family. The beautiful Thanda Safari, a five-star private game reserve and one of South Africa’s top Big Five game reserves is situated in Zululand. It is home to amazing wildlife and more than 400 different bird species.
The cheetah is a young 22-month old female. Which arrived at Thanda on Tuesday 21 August from the Mkuze Game Reserve.
After being released from the transport container by Mariana Venter, Thanda Safari’s Wildlife co-ordinator, the beautiful young cheetah wandered confidently around her new surroundings.
“We’re very excited at her arrival – just a few months ago we welcomed two male cheetahs to the reserve. They’re currently still in a boma and will be released into the reserve on 7 September”, said Venter.
The new female cheetah will be spending the next three months in a boma. In order for her to get used to her new home, before being released into the reserve.
Thanda Safari is passionate about environmental conservation and with the threat that cheetahs may be facing extinction. In South Africa, their natural habitat is shrinking and there are only around 7,000 now in the wild). They have taken to looking after and making sure Cheetahs still have a natural habitat.
